Claytie Jackson Zorn

OBITUARY.
ZORN -- On Tuesday morning, March 1st, 1881, little Jack, only son of Mary and Culver Zorn, aged 14 months.

In your sad and lonely dwelling,
There's an empty cradle bed,
And your hearts with grief are swelling,
For your darling baby's dead.

'Tis fair and dainty cradle,
With its pillows soft and white,
But within the blankets folded,
Lies no little form to-night.

Suffering, dying, O, our baby,
Vain we try to keep him warm,
O, our Father! Spare our darling,
Let us keep his fairy form.

But ah, 'tis vain, they take him from us,
Put his pure, white garments on,
Fold the hands and close the eyelids,
Death, the victory has won.

Though the gloomy day must sever,
See we through the shadows dim,
He is still our precious baby,
Naught of evil sullied him.

We still think how safe forever,
In the Shepard's fold above,
That poor lamb for whom we sorrow,
Resteth now in Jesus' love.

MRS. JOHN SHULTS.
