Wheeler

Hebron Items.
Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler started in a short time after receiving the dispatch that their daughter, Mrs. Shiffer, of South Bend, was dead, on Sunday the 31st of Jan. They went to Valparaiso with their own conveyance, and arrived at South Bend Monday morning about 10 o'clock and found that their daughter had been buried the evening before. Mrs. Shiffer was taken with vomiting. Mr. Shiffer got up and made a fire, and wanted to go for a doctor, but she said she felt better, and he did not go until morning; and she thought it was not necessary then. The Dr., however, came and told her that he thought she was not much sick. He left her a little medicine. About noon she said she was better, spoke of getting up and doing some baking, but did not. In the afternoon her throat commenced swelling, and Mr. Shiffer went for the doctor again; and was only gone a few minutes when she called the hired girl to her bed and told her she believed she was dying. "Is it possible," she said, "I must die without seeing my husband again?" and died without a struggle. She was about 24 years old.
