Coroner's Inquest
REPORT OF THE CORONER'S INQUEST, HELD ON Monday, Sept. 7, 1874, over the body of Erasmus West, then found lying dead in Center Township, Porter County, Indiana.

The jury impannelled in said case, after having examined the body and the ground where the same was found, and the evidence appertaining thereto, found that deceased came to his death by his team running away, throwing him against the fence, striking the left side of his head against the rail and post, the team dragging him about seventy-five yards, where the body was found. Said body was left in charge of his family for burial.
