Henry Walsh

OBITUARY.
WALSH. -- At the residence of his parent's in Valparaiso, Dec. 20th, 1880, Henry Walsh, aged 11 years, 6 months and 10 days.

The deceased child was born in Valparaiso, June 10, 1869. His early death has cast a gloom over the large circle of companions, to whom though but just out of the years of infancy, he had endeared himself by his quiet inoffensive disposition. Much sympathy expressed for those who, connected with him by the ties of kindred, are of course most deeply afflicted.

The short story of his sickness affords us another of the oft repeated examples of the stealthy insidious approach of Death. Enjoying almost uninterrupted good health from his birth, he was seized on Dec. 8, with the rheumatic affection which, after causing great pain to the little sufferer, finally terminated fatally on Dec. 22, the body being borne to St. Paul's Church by the Holy Angel Society of which the deceased was a member. After the funeral service which was conducted by Rev. M. O'Reilly, the body was escorted to the Fort Wayne depot by the same society and was taken, accompanied by sorrowing friends to Calvary Cemetery, where the earthly remains of "Baby" Walsh were laid beside those of his mother and brother, to await while mingling with their kindred ashes, the trumpet of the great Arch-angel.

To each and every one of us death will some day come, and the simple record of this child is the same as will be that of all of us when our time will come; "He was born, and he died." We can not guess what might have been the fate in store for him had he lived to accomplish the days of man, we can only hope that God in His wisdom marked him for Himself, and we trust in the words of the Divine Savior that "of each is the kingdom of heaven."

A FRIEND.
