The police at Michigan-city have been 2 days on a wild search for a girl reported to have been discovered by 2 women picking berries on the 22d in the act of murdering by hangning her own child to which she had just then and there given birth. What renders this report incredible is that it represents the women as there looking on and witnessing the murderous act without an effort to prevent it or arrest the murderess or even let her know that she was seen, and going home and keeping so sensational a matter several hours to themselves. It is easier to believe it an attempt to hum-bug the police.
