Unknown

Last Tuesday morning John Patterson, of Westchester township, was walking along the beach of Lake Michigan, three miles west of the Old City West pier, and there discovered the body of a dead man washed ashore, of large size, sandy hair and whiskers, 35 years old, dressed with dark pants and coat, and a light-colored comforter around his neck. Mr. Patterson notified Trustee Ingram, and he in turn, notified Coroner Paramore, who held an inquest of the case yesterday, developing the foregoing facts. The man was supposed to have been a sailor, and drowned last winter or spring, his clothing seeming adapted to cold weather. Nothing was found about his person to indicate his name, business, or residence. The body was much decomposed, which also indicated that it had been long in the water.
