Robert Thomas

CHESTERTON CHIPS
Monday afternoon a sad accident occurred at Flint Lake, in which Robert the ten year old son of Elias Thomas lost his life. The little fellow was out visiting some campers, and with a companion went in swimming on the south side of the lake, near the club house. While paddling in the water he gradually went out until he got beyond his depth, and before assistance could reach him perished in the waters. The sad news was telephoned the father, whose grief, on beholding his dead boy, was pitiful. The remains were taken to the family residence on Washington street, Valparaiso, and viewed by the coroner, who rendered a verdict of accidental drowning. The little fellow was an unusually bright child, the idol of his parents, and his untimely death is a fearful blow to them. Grim old Flint Lake, it seems, must have its annual victim, and is no respector of persons.
