Judson Stuter

OBITUARY.
A heavy affliction has befallen Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Stuter, of this place, in the sudden death of their only child, Judson Stoddard, at the age of eighteen months. The parents expecting to spend the coming Christmas at the home of his grandfather, Wm. Stoddard, Esq., he was taken there in advance on Wednesday evening of last week. The night he was taken sick and during the day his condition became so alarming that the parents were sent for. Mrs. Stuter reached his bed-side about 9 o'clock in the evening. Mr. Stuter being absent with his train, when the messenger came, did not get there till some minutes after his decease, which took place about 7 o'clock on Friday morning, his sickness having lasted only a little more than twenty-four hours. The funeral services were held at Mr. William Stoddard's, on Saturday afternoon and were conducted by the Rev. Robert Beer, of this place. He was buried at the Adams school house burying ground.

[Note: Judson Stuter's surname is incorrectly mentioned in his obituary as Stoddard, the surname of his grandfather. Adams Cemetery records indicate that his surname was indeed Stuter.]
