Mary E. Strong

Death of Mary E. Strong.
From a letter written by Mr. B. F. Morrow, of San Francisco, California, to her sister, Mrs. Price, of this city, we learn that Mrs. Mary E. Strong, wife of N. R. Strong, formerly well-known citizens of Valparaiso, died at Santa Rosa, California, on the 29th of November, 1884. Mrs. Strong was born at Rocky Hill, Somerset county, New Jersey, on the 4th of April, 1820, and was at the time of her death in her 65th year.

Mrs. Strong had been ailing for about a month, but her friends did not think her case very alarming until death came upon her. She was not particularly afflicted with any disease, but died from a generally worn-out constitution, brought about by a general indisposition nearly all her life and constant care and attention upon her husband, who has been almost an invalid for years past. She was buried at Santa Rosa, where she had gone from San Francisco several years ago for the benefit of her health. Mr. Strong, who survives her, is reported on the brink of the grave, and under the most favorable circumstances is not expected to survive her long.

Mrs. Strong was a member of the Presbyterian church, a good christian woman, an affectionate and devoted wife, and a kind neighbor in sickness and health, and her death, though not unexpected, is lamented by her many friends in this city. Peace to her ashes!
