Archie Sherwood

IN MEMORY.
Of little Archie, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood, who died Jan. 26, 1888, aged 2 years and 5 months.

Little Archie Sherwood's left us,
Gone to live in heaven so fair,
Gone to join the white-robed angels,
And dwell with them forever there.

Archie was our youngest darling,
And so oft' we'll miss his smile,
But we know if we prove faithful,
We will meet him after while.

Oh! how sad home is without him,
But the Lord saw fit to take
One sweet little treasure from us,
Although it seem our hearts would break.

But we would not call the loved one,
Back to earth to suffer pain,
From this earthly loss to us,
Is little Archie's eternal gain.

Sad and gloomy was the morning,
That we laid him there to rest,
In the cold and silent graveyard,
But Jesus loved him he knows best.

Farewell, darling! Farewell, loved one,
Here thy loss we deeply feel,
But 'tis God that has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
