Marie Severt

Mrs. Severt, wife of John Severt, died Wednesday evening, April 19th at her home in Porter. She was taken suddenly sick two days before, with neuralgia of the stomach, and though the best medical services were secured, nothing could be done. The funeral will be held Sunday forenoon, the service to be held in the German Lutheran church of this place.

[Note: The following information concerning Marie Sievert appears in the May 5, 1893, issue of The Tribune, Chesterton, Porter County, Indiana (Volume 10, Number 5, Page 5, Column 5): PITHY PORTER POINTERS. Mrs. Marie Sievert was born in Baden, Germany in 1853, and with her parents came to America when she was 1 year old. Her maiden name was Mary Witzle. She was married to John Sievert in 1876, and has lived in this neighborhood for the last quarter of a century. She was the mother of seven boys and one girl, all living, the youngest a girl being four years old, and the eldest twenty-five years old. She was a devout member of the German Lutheran church, and an earnest Christian woman.]
