Edith Sabinski

Wm. Sabinski, section foreman for the Lake Shore Ry at Burdick, and his two daughters, and Will Kemper came to Chesterton on a hand car Thursday evening to attend the Foresters' Thanksgiving dance. They were among the merriest and stayed until about 3:30 a. m., and then started for home on the hand car. When about two miles east of Chesterton they were overtaken and struck by the fast newspaper train No. 44, due here at 3:44 a. m. and running at a rate of 65 miles an hour. The train was stopped and the two men were found dead and the girls seriously injured. They were put abourd the train and taken to their homes at Burdick, and medical aid summoned. At this writing it is not known how seriously the girls are injured.

LATER. -- It seems that two hand cars, one from Burdick and one from Otis were racing, one on each track, and in the excitement failed to notice the train bearing down on them. Kemper was formerly trustee of Pine township. Sabinski was a Forester and carried a $1,000 life insurance policy.

We stopped the press to announce that the report is just received that one girl is dead and the other dying.
