Mary Ruhe

Many friends from near and abroad assembled at St. Patrick's church on Monday, May 4th, at 10 a. m., to show their esteem and love for the bereaved family of Wm. Ruhe, from whom death snatched their youngest child Mary on May 1st. Having placed her under the special patronage of Heaven at the time of baptism, her spiritual mother summoned her to spend this beautiful month with her in the realms above. Solemn funeral service and Requiem high mass were sung by Rev. Kroll, after which he addressed the assembled friends in German, showing that God is not satisfied with that for which we have no further use, but that what is dearest and best. Then how consoling it is for father and mother to know a child is safe with the Heavenly Father, looking down upon the loving ones who brought so many sacrifices, and awaiting the moment, when after a true christian life it may conduct them to the judgment seat of Jesus Christ. How different from those parents who have neglected to give their children a true christian education, and find them at the hour of death unfaithful to God and to them. The child was eight years, five months and twenty-eight days old. Its illness had been brief and its demise unexpected. The sympathy of many friends is cordially extended to the bereaved family.
