Jacob Romine

Obituary.
Jacob Romine, a well known and respected citizen, breathed his last at his home in Chesterton Monday morning, Sept. 23, 1895. About six weeks ago he began feeling bad and went to visit his parents in Illinois to recuperate. While there he got worse, and after remaining a week returned home. He took to his bed with typhoid fever, and although everything was done that could be, he gradually sank until death ended the battle.

Deceased was born Aug. 8, 1869, in Fulton county, Ills., and was one of four children born to Thomas and Sarah M. Romine. In 1889 he left home and came to Hebron, where he learned the barber trade. In the winter of 1891 he located in Chesterton, and the following May was united in marriage to Miss Lizzie Nolan, of Hebron. While a resident of Chesterton he made many warm friends by his manly, upright ways, and his untimely demise is sincerely mourned.

The remains were taken to Hebron for burial Tuesday, and on Wednesday the funeral was held, services being conducted in the Hebron M. E. church. Mrs. Romine, with her baby, will return to the home of her mother to live.
