Eliza Deete Riddle

OBITUARY.
Eliza Deete Riddle, daughter of Chas. and Lydia R. Riddle, was born at Porter Cross Roads, Porter county, Ind., Oct. 25, 1865, and departed this life at the place of her birth, May 22d, 1882, aged 17 years. 6 months, and 27 days. The following lines were composed by her a short time before her death, and show her Christian character, and the peacefulness of her death:

My father called me to his arms,
And willingly I go,
With cheerfulness I bid farewell
To all things here below.

My tender parents, kind and dear,
I bid farewell to you,
Though nature feels and I can find,
'Tis hard to say adieu.

My brothers, they have loved me much,
Whose love I dearly feel;
I see their tender passions move,
Their grief they can't conceal.

But do not weep or grieve for me,
You know I must go home;
I was upon a visit here,
And now I must return.

My young companions all adieu,
You have held me near your hearts,
Still I can feel and find to say,
'Tis hard with you to part.

Now I rejoice to leave this world
Of sorrow, sin, and pain;
I know I'm washed in Jesus' blood,
And shall a crown obtain.

FareWell vain world,
With all thee transitory toys;
This has been a world to me
Of transitory joys.

My Jesus calls me to His arms,
I will obey thy call,
I'm going to my heavenly friend,
My Jesus and my all.
