Jennie Pickel

To the Memory of Jennie Pickel.

Dear Jennie, thou'rt gone to the realms of the blest,
Where life's pains, sorrows and trails no more shall molest,
To that mansion that Jesus so long has prepared.
But Jennie, dear Jennie, you scarce could be spared.

We will miss you, my darling, wherever we go;
Miss your voice with its music so sweet and so low,
But to-day with the angels in heaven you sing --
Where you never will tire -- where it ever is spring.

Thy fair life is faded and, fallen with leaves,
That now over thy grave a brown covering weaves;
But thy spirit has gone to Him who has giveth
A rest to the weary -- a home safe in heaven.
