[To Mrs. Dr. Beer, on the death of her mother, Mrs. Agnes Percy, at Frostburgh, Alleghany county, Md., Oct. 21, 1877, aged 70 years.]
My friends are passing, one by one,
Yet, into life, their path leads on.
Mysterious exit of the soul,
Or spirit loosed from earth's control,
The vestments, gray, in realms of light,
Have changed the robes of purest white.
Eyes of true faith the glory see
Revealed, -- and bow to God's decree.
