Andrew E. Newberg

PORTER POINTERS.
Died, at his home, east of town, on Saturday, June 23, Andrew E. Newberg, aged 70 years and 15 days of heart failure. Mr. Newberg was born in Hoganas, Sweden, June 8, 1824, and came to this country in 1864, and located in Chicago. He enlisted as a private in Co. K. First Illinois Light Artillery, and served until the war closed. He was up to his death drawing $12 per month pension money. Mr. Newberg has been a resident of Westchester township since 1872, and has always been classed as one of our most respected citizens. The funeral was on Tuesday from the Mission church, near Lake Station, and was well attended by his many friends. He leaves two sons, Charles and John, to mourn his loss.
