O. L. Moffitt

OLD VETERAN PASSES AWAY LAST EVENING
O. L. Moffitt, an Old Time Resident and a Veteran of the Civil War Called by Death.
FUNERAL TOMORROW

Mr. O. L. Moffitt was born in Tippecanoe county, Indiana, Feb. 29, 1844, and passed away at his home on Garfield avenue at 8:30 Tuesday evening, Feb. 1, 1916. He was one of a family of six children -- three girls and three boys. His parents moved to Jasper county, where they lived on a farm. At the age of 20 years he enlisted in Co. K, 48th Regiment Indiana Infantry volunteers, where he served until the close of the war, after which he returned and lived with his parents until the death of his mother. He was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Dutton in February, 1868. To this union were born four children -- William, Mary, Lillie and Jennie -- William passing away in infancy. In 1899 Mr. Moffitt was again married, to Miss Emeline Mitchell, and to them was born one son, Glen, age 15. Mr. Moffitt was a faithful member of the Christian church; also a member of the G. A. R.

Funeral services will be held at the Christian church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
