Clark Meeker

DIED.
MEEKER. -- At his residence in Valparaiso, December 6th, 1875, Clark Meeker, aged sixty-one years.

Mr. Meeker was born in Essex county, New York, in 1814. When but two years of age, he removed with his parents to Warren county, Ohio, where he remained about seventeen years. Coming to Laporte county, in this State, in 1833, he was one of the very earliest settlers of this region, and few men of this vicinity have been so generally known and highly respected. He was married in 1835, to the estimable lady who survives him. Always popular, he was especially so at the time when the Pittsburgh Railway was built through this section, when his house was thronged by the officers and citizens engaged in the great work, who found him a genial-friend and a wise counselor. Since 1864 he has resided in this city. As a good citizen, an honorable man, a kind husband and parent, and a valued friend. Clark Meeker will be long remembered, and his many virtues will be an example to his former companions.
