Michael McNamara

The remains of Michael McNamara, of Englewood, were brought to Chesterton for burial Tuesday, December 18, and laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. Deceased came to Chesterton in 1852, and remained until after the war, when he removed to Englewood to enter the employ of the Lake Shore railroad company as flagman at the 63rd street crossing, at which post of duty he has remained ever since. The old gentlemen had been ailing but a few days and passed away almost without pain Sunday, Dec. 16. The funeral services were conducted in Englewood. Owing to the fact that few here knew of his death, there was not the turnout of his old friends that there would have been otherwise. Deceased was 73 years old, and leaves a married daughter. He was in comfortable circumstances, and leaves her a snug fortune. Among those who came out from Chicago to attend the funeral, were, Messrs D. Rowan, P. Clancey, Murray, Tom Moroney and O'Shea. A number of laides also came out, whose names we did not learn.
