Clara Amalenda Marquardt

Clara Amalenda Marquardt.
It has pleased almight God to call to his neavenly dwellings Clara A. Marquardt, the fifth child of Gustav Marquardt. She was born on the 4th of October 1875 at Valparaiso. Since Easter 1881 she attended the German Ev. Luth. school very regularly, having been absent from school during the past two years only 7 days out of 425 days. She had been complaining very often about drowsiness since Easter; but nevertheless she occupied her place in school daily until May 14th. On the following day she was confined to her bed, from which she would never rise again. A fatal case of brain-fever set in, which was destined to take Clara from us. During the last three days of her life she was mostly unconscious. Monday morning at 5:45 o'clock the time of her departure from this world had arrived and her Lord Jesus delivered her from all evil and carried her to her abode in heaven, after which she had been longing so much, aged 8 yrs., 7 mo., and 22 days. Yesterday afternoon a great many friends had assembled to accompany her body to is last resting place on the new cemetery. During her short life she had gained the love of all who knew her, and we all regret her loss very much, but still we know that we will meet her again in heaven.

Tender Sheperd, Thous has stilled
Now Thy little lamb's brief weeping;
Oh, how peaceful, pale, and mild
In its narrow bed 'tis sleeping,
And no sigh of anguish sore
Heaves that little bosom more.
