J. D. Lowe

The body of a well-dressed young man of about twenty-three years of age, was found by the side of the road about one mile north of Union Mills early yesterday morning. It was evidently a deliberate case of suicide, for he had plainly opened his shirt and shot himself through the heart. The pistol lay at his feet and nothing on his person seemed to be disturbed. In his pocket was found a letter of recommendation from a bank in Eng. And his name appeared to be J. D. Lowe. The probabilities seem to be that the young man was out of money and discouraged to a point that caused him to prefer death to a further battle with adversity. -- Laporte Argus, Sept. 4
