Frederick Lester Loomis

LOOMIS. -- Monday morning, October 9th, 1876, at 6 o'clock, of pulmonary consumption, Frederick Lester Loomis, eldest son of Hiram Loomis, Esq., aged 17 years and 5 months.

Freddie was from infancy of feeble constitution, subject to frequent attacks of sickness, and his early death was not, therefore, a surprise. He was taken with the disease which terminated his earthly existence just six months before his death, and through the whole of that time, his sufferings, which were unusually severe, were borne with wonderful patience and a cheerful resignation to the divine will. After long meditation, desiring an opportunity to testify before men his faith in Jesus Christ, he was received into the communion of the Presbyterian church. Such was his love for Jesus Christ, and such his intelligent apprehension of things to come, that it was a blessing to be permitted to sit by his bed and hear him converse concerning the prospects before him. "Let me die the death of the righteous and let my last end be like his."
