Long

Dr. Marr, of Chesterton, was here Tuesday and reported in the vicinity of Long's Mill, north of this city and south of Chesterton, several cases of spotted fever. A son of Mr. Chris Long, aged about 12 years, was first attacked on Friday night and survived three days. The next was that of Robert Cuppinaugh, an old resident, who lived under the dread disease only about 48 hours. The third is a daughter of Emanuel Coucher, about 13, who was taken on Saturday. At the time of our advice she still lives, but without hope for recovery. The doctor attributes the prevalence of the disease in that neighborhood to some local malaria from an unknown source.
