Charles Lahayne

DIED. -- On Sunday, December 28, Mr. Charles Lahayne, at the age of 59 years. The funeral services were held at McCool Chapel on Wednesday.

The deceased was a highly-respected well-to-do farmer living near Gossett's Mills, who came and settled there over thirty years ago. He was born in Germany, and when a young man, resolved to cast his fortunes with Americans. Coming to this country in '52 he immediately set to work, and became on of our honored citizens. For some time past he has suffered with heart disease, and after consulting with Chicago physicians a few weeks ago, on his way back, he caught cold, which settled on his lungs, and brought up lung fever. This was the cause of death. His impoverished system was unable to withstand the ravages made by the fever. The deceased leaves a large family and a host of friends to mourn his loss.
