William Keefe

Report of Coroner's Inquest.
State of Indiana, Porter County, ss:

BE IT REMEMBERED, THAT ON THE nineteenth day of August, 1881, information was given to me that the dead body of a man lay in Westchester township, in said state and county, supposed to have come to his death by violence or casualty, and to ascertain so far as possible the cause and circumstances of said death, witnesses were called and sworn, and their material evidence reduced to writing, signed by myself, and filed in the Clerk's office of said county.

Whereupon, I find decedent's name was William Keefe, that he was about 23 years old, of light complexion, 5 feet 8 1/2 inches high, and plainly dressed; that he was supposed to have been riding without knowledge or permit of the conductor upon a freight train of the Michigan Central railroad, and that he came to his death near Porter Station, Indiana, by injuries received from the cars of said train passing over and crushing his right arm and shoulder. His person was committed to the charge of the trustee of said township for delivery to friends for burial.
A. P. LETHERMAN,
Coroner of Porter County.
