Charles F. Holcombe

Obituary.
Charles F. Holcombe, formerly a student of the Northern Indiana Normal School, died on the 12th inst., in Arkansas, of typhoid fever. The deceased was born in Crawford county, Pa., June 16th, 1856. In 1874 he came to Valparaiso to attend the normal school. He was a member of the scientific class of '80 and graduate of the classic class of '81. He was a good student standing high in his class and graduating ---?--- to himself and to his friends. August 22, 1882, he was married to Miss Ina Blake, daughter of Mr. Perry Blake, of Portage township, Porter county, Ind., after which he moved toBushnell, Ill., and taught in the normal school at that place until last spring, when he went with his family to Arkansas to engage in farming. But Death, who has no regard for the plans and aspirations of men, soon came and took him from his work, his family and the world. Why this sun should go down at noon we can not see now, but we shall know after a while. May those who are bereaved be comforted in the thought that "the judge of all the earth doeth right." The deceased leaves one brother, in Ill., three sisters, one in Nova Scotia, one in Ark., and one in Ill., and a wife and one child to mourn their loss. The remains were brought to the parental home of the widow last Thursday and on Friday, after religious services conducted by Elder E. S. Riley, in the Swedish church, they were buried in the cemetery near by. This early death of one whose life was so full of hope to his family and friends is a great affliction -- too great to be borne alone with true consolation; therefore, "cast thy burdens upon the Lord and He shall sustain thee."

"Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust him for his grace;
Behind frowning providence
He hides a smiling face."
