Peter Hesser

OBITUARY.

Died at his residence, Union township, April 30, 1880, Peter Hesser, SR., in the seventy-fifth year of his age.

He was born in Jefferson county, Ohio, November the 8th, 1805. Married Miss Mary Fleming, Dec. 22d, 1829, came to Porter county in the fall of 1852, and settled on the farm on which he died. He was the father of nine children, seven of whom survive him. He was an active member of the M. E. church over forty years, serving in the capacity of class leader, steward &c., beloved and respected by all, as the very large gathering at his funeral, conducted at between three and four hundred persons, amply testifies. Many good things may be said of father Hesser, and they are known to his God who he trusted. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, yea, saith the spirit they rest from their labors and their works do follow them.

"Forever with the Lord,
Amen, so let it be;
Life from the dead is in that word,
---?--- is ---?--- ---?---."
