Matilda Guss

OBITUARY.
Mrs. Matilda Conn (nee Guss) was born in Pennsylvania, July 15, 1838. She was married April 21, 1856, to Mr. John Conn, and died at their residence (the Conn House) in this city, May 30, 1879.

After a short service at the house Monday morning, the remains were taken to Winamac, the family's former home, for burial, and the funeral services took place the same afternoon, being conducted by the Christian minister of that place. Messrs. R. P. Jones, A. V. Lieben, J. G. Brooks, S. D. Purdy, and Undertaker Lepell, accompanied the family to Winamac.

Deceased was highly esteemed by all who were acquainted with her, and was a particular favorite with her boarders, who in her memory passed the following

RESOLUTIONS OF RESPECT.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Matilda Conn, our highly esteemed hostess, after a brief but very painful illness, departed this life, May 30th, 1879, at her late residence in this city; therefore, be it

Resolved, That in her death the community loses one of it most estimable women, her guests the kindest of friends, and her husband and daughters a true wife and an affectionate mother.

Resolved, That we hereby tender our sympathy and condolence to the bereaved family in their great affliction.

Resolved, That these resolutions be published in the Valparaiso Messenger and the PORTER COUNTY VIDETTE.
