Bertha Gott

OBITUARY.
WHEELER, Dec. 28, 1880.

A heavy affliction befel Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Gott, of this place, on Christmas day, in the sudden death of their only child, Bertha, aged 7 months, of dyptheria. The parents anticipating the coming Christmas, friends had been invited, and the Christmas tree was waiting in the parlor; but the grim messenger, ever ready to claim our loved ones, came, and ere the evening shadows had fallen,

"One more sweet flower had dropped and faded,
One sweet infant voice had fled."

her sickness having lasted only a little more than twenty-four hours. The funeral services were held at the residence on Sabbath afternoon. The remains were taken to the Wheeler cemetery for burial.
