Joseph Gordon

At his residence near Wheeler, last Friday morning, Joseph Gordon in the 76th year of his age.

The deceased was born in Cambridge, New York, June 15, 1805. When he was three years old he moved with his father to Canada. In 1841 he moved to Hickory Point, Lake county, Ind. For many years prior to his death he had lived with his family near Wheeler. He had been a member of the Baptist church about forty years and was regarded, by all who knew him well, as a good man and a devoted Christian. In his last days he was much afflicted, but he bore his afflictions with Christian patience. He leaves three sons and three daughters and an aged sister to mourn their loss. His funeral services were conducted by Elder Riley, his pastor, in the school house near by, after which his body was buried near Blachley's corners.
