John Gordon

Hebron Items.
Died, 9th isnt., at his residence 3 miles east of Hebron, John Gordon. He as in his usual health the day before and went to the swamp and brought a load of wood home, and was intending to go in the afternoon for another load. He was shelling corn in the kitchen and he told his wife to take the dish he was shelling in, that he felt very bad, and started to go to the bed but fell before he got to it. He lived about three hours. Mr. Gordon came from Canada about 32 years ago and bought 160 acres of land, on which the most of Hebron is now built. He sold his property here about ten years ago and bought property in Lake County, near School Grove. About two years ago he sold and bought three miles east of here, where he died. He was among the early settlers of Porter county. He leaves a wife and six children, the youngest about sixteen years of age, and a large circle of friends to mourn his loss.
