Abigail Curtis

CURTIS. -- On the 1st instant, at the residence of Daniel S. Curtis, near Wheeler, Ind., Abigail (Huggins) in the 90th year of her age.

Miss Huggins was born in Cayugua Co., N. Y., Oct. 18th, 1794. On Aug. 3d, 1820, she united in marriage to John Curtis with whom she lived until Nov. 1865, when he died. They had nine children of which only four are now living, two sons and two daughters. Since her husband's death she has made her home with her youngest son, Daniel Curtis, by whom, with his wife and family, she received the most tender care and patient attention.

In early life she united with the Baptist church and lived until her death with strong abiding faith in Christ as her Saviour. She was a faithful wife and a loving mother and greatly beloved by the family of her son with whom she lived.

The funeral services took place at the Swedish church six miles north of Wheeler, on Wednesday the 3d inst. At 2 o'clock, being conducted by Elder Riley, of the Baptist church of Valparaiso. Another mother of Isreal has fallen, but her death is full of consolation to her friends for "Precious in the Sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints -- They rest from their labors and their works do follow them."
