Mrs. S. H. Crumbacker

DIED.
CRUMBACKER. -- At Austin Texas, on Dec. 26, 1881, in the 56th year of her age, Mrs. S. H. Crumbacker. Buried from the residence of her son in Chicago, on January 1, 1882, at Oakwood cemetery.

We learn with deep regret of the death of Mrs. S. H. Crumbacker, at Austin, Texas, on the morning of Dec. 26th, -- whither she had gone with her daughter Ida, in whose behalf, she being in delicate health, a change of climate was advised. The change though of some benefit to the daughter was disastrous to the mother, who early in August sickened; and on a bright sunshiny morning in December her spirit winged its flight to the great beyond. She was resigned and confident that the future would give to her that joy of which her Christian belief had taught her, and which her perfect faith had pictured. Her last advice to her children was, "prepare to meet me in eternity." She was a true friend, a loving mother. During the last of her illness her son and daughters were present; a comfort to her, but a sorrowful meeting to them. To see her slipping away slowly, but surely, and in a strange land away from friends, was anguish indeed. After death her remains were enclosed in a metal casket and removed to Chicago in perfect condition, which was a great consolation to her numerous friends and relative present at the funeral service, who desired to look once more upon the face of her they so well remembered. There were beautiful floral offerings from her son's associates in office. The sympathy of friends was sincere and touching.

Deceased was once a resident of this place, where she leaves a sister, Mrs. J. A. Nichols. Numerous friends of the family here heartily sympathize and condole with the afflicted.
