Nonie Carver
In Memoriam.
CARVER. -- Nonie, daughter of Mr. J. Carver, of Valparaiso, Ind., died suddenly on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1879, aged eight years.
Nonie was a lovely, interesting child, the cheer and delight of her fond parents, the favorite among her loving sisters, and the attraction of all who knew her. All the angel-like virtues which adorn the innocence of childhood, were never more perfectly portrayed than in her every action. She was the light of that household, which now, alas! In spite of all efforts to the contrary, must ever remember and mourn their darling who never again, in this world, shall bring them sweet smiles of consolation, and innocent words of comfort. She passed away like a tiny bud, called from the garden of devoted hearts, to be transplanted in Heaven. Truly might it be said: "Death came on her like an untimely frost upon the sweetest flower of the field." Strange it seems that death should have chosen her, just in the beautiful dawn of life, to suffer the blow of this destroying hand. But the wisdom of our God is impenetrable and his Goodness such that no man can conceive. He has said: "Of such is the kingdom of Heaven," and the angelic choirs above longed, ere the world's temptation and sin came, to welcome her among their number. We deeply sympathize with the stricken family, who, with faith and hope, wait to meet their dear one in that glorious land of their blessed, where death never enters and where partings are unknown.
A light has gone from our household
To shine in the region above,
One sweet lamb has left our field
To dwell with the God above.
Oh, could we see through Heaven's bright gale
To welcome her to her given,
None would wish that darling child
Back from her home in Heaven.
