Nathaniel Campbell

DIED,
At his residence near Valparaiso, on Monday, July 23d, of Dysentery, Mr. NATHANIEL CAMPBELL, in the 52d year of his age. He was a kind and indulgent father -- a tender, devoted and affectionate husband -- a good neighbor, and universally esteemed and beloved by his numerous acquaintances for his many virtue.

The deceased was a resident of the town of Victor, Ontario County, New York, for about thirty-two years, from which he emigrated to this County four years ago.

At a special meeting of the Valparaiso Division, No. 126, Sons of Temperance, held at their Hall on the evening of the 23d of July, A. D., 1849, for the purpose of making preperatory arrangements for attending the funeral of Bro. NATHANIEL CAMPBELL, the following preamble and resolutions were read and unanimously adopted, viz:

WHEREAS, it has please the Great Patriarch above, in the wise dispensation of his providence, to call from our number a bright and shining member of our Order, the lamented NATHANIEL CAMPBELL, whose sage advice and burning words of counsel, are fresh in our memories and still sounding in our ears: And whereas, we feel desirous of sympathising with his bereaved family in their affliction, and of testifying our respect for the many virtues of our decceased Brother: Therefore,

Resolved, That this Division has sustained an irreparable loss in the decease of our esteemed Brother, NATHANIEL CAMPBELL -- one who was ever faithful and true to his obligations, and while living distinguished himself by devoting his best energies and untiring devotion to the advancement of our Order.

Resolved, That we deeply deplore the loss, and sincerely sympathise with the bereaved relatives and friends of our deceased Brother, and as a testimony or respect for his memory, we will attend his funeral at 2 o'clock p. m., to-morrow, and wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.

Resolved, That our Charter, together with all the Emblems of the Order, be also clothed with mourning for the same period of time.

Resolved, That a copy of the foregoing preamble and resolutions be presented to the family of the deceased, and that the Editors of the Practical Observer and Family Visitor be requested to publish the same in their respective papers.
