George Burr

Mr. E. Ensign, of Lake Station, saw a dead man floating on the water of Lake Michigan, last Friday, and procured J. R. Millan and Thos. Bowers to go with him Saturday and bring the body ashore, on doing which it proved to be that of Geo. Burr, the man who went up weeks ago at St. Louis with Prof. Wise in a balloon. The place where the body was found was in this county, and accordingly our coroner was notified and held an inquest, a report of which will be found in this paper. The father of the deceased lives in Chicago, and on being notified requested the body be sent to him, which was done, and a brother-in-law of the deceased came over here and paid expenses of the inquest and $250 reward to those who found and rescued the body. Probably Prof. Wise himself may yet be found along the same lake shore.

[Note: Although the newspaper item indicates that a coroner's inquest report was printed in the same issue, no report was published in this particular issue.]
