Nelson L. Brakeman

M. E. CHURCH ITEMS.

Miss Mary DeMotte read the following resolutions of condolence and respect:

WHEREAS, By the hand of death we have been called to mourn the loss of our esteemed pastor, Rev. N. L. Brakeman; and,

WHEREAS, His fidelity and devotion to our special interest and the general work in which he was engaged was earnest and sincere; and,

WHEREAS, It is right and proper that a recognition of his superior qualities be had by this, his beloved Sabbath school; therefore,

Resolved, That by his death we have lost an active, devoted and worthy friend and pastor, who deserved and had our fullest confidence and highest esteem, and whose memory we will ever revere and cherish.

Resolved, That we tender to the afflicted daughter, Miss Minnie Brakeman, our condolence and sympathy in her sad bereavement, and while mourning with her the loss of father and minister, we also deeply regret that circumstances have deprived us of her assistance, which has, since her connection with the school, been fully and freely given.

Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be spread on the records of the Sabbath school, published in the county papers, and forwarded by the Secretary to Miss Brakeman.

H. J. UPTHEGROVE,
GEORGE S. CLINE,
MARY DEMOTTE, Committee.

After the reading, E. L. Whitcombe moved that the Sabbath school adopt the resolutions by rising to their feet. Prof. W. H. Banta seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous.
