Sad intelligence is received of the death from malignant diphtheria of little Ruth, second daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Wm. M. Bartholomew, Esq., of this city. The demise occurred in Germany, where Mrs. B., with her three little innocent's terrible affliction became known, so stringent are the laws of that country, it was taken forcibly from its mother to the hospital, where, though tearfully entreating it, the tender and affectionate maternal good-bye kiss was forbidden, and when the eager mother hastened the following morning to the bed-side she had left so recently and in such deep sorrow, it was only to receive the awful announcement that her darling was dead!
