Joseph Bartholomew

Death of Joseph Bartholomew.

It becomes our duty to chronicle the decease of another of Porter county's early settlers, a resident of nearly half a century highly honored and esteemed.

Joseph Bartholomew was born April 3, 1801, at Greene county, Pa. Emigrated to Licking county, Ohio, in 1806, and to Porter county, Indiana, in 1834, where he has since resided. In Perry county, O., in 1827, married Mary Ann Spencer, who at the age of 76, survives him. Died of chronic malaria, at his residence in Morgan township, April 16th, leaves mourning him his wife, six children, 23 grand-children, and six great-grand-children. Funeral services were conducted at Tassinong church, on the 17th inst., by Rev. Spencer Baker, of Hebron.
