John Babcock

THE COUNTY.
WESTVILLE.
Our quiet town was startled Sunday by the announcement of the death of Mr. John Babcock, who has been for some time a resident of this place. About two months ago Mr. B. was discharged from the employ of Wm. Hanse and since then has suffered from bad health and its usual attendent low spirits. On Sunday morning he complained more than usual and stated that he would take some aconite. Near noon he began to complain and was soon in convulsions. Dr. Fraval was called, but before anything could be done death relieved him of his sufferings. After his death it was found that he had taken more than a teaspoonfull of aconite, one-half of which would have destroyed life. Whether this was an overdose taken intentionally or by accident is an unsettled question.
