Magnus Anderson, the well known moss gatherer of Millers, was instantly killed by a Lake Shore west bound fast train Monday morning last a few minutes after 8 o'clock. Mr. Anderson had gone with a team to haul material for his son to the Millers school house. The son had got the contract to paint that building and was about to start to work. On his way home the old gentleman saw the east bound passenger train there, approaching the station, but failed to note the approach of the other train. In the presence of a number of people standing around the station he was instantly killed. The funeral was held Wenesday, Rev. Holmgren, of Chesterton officiating. Mr. Anderson was well known in Chesterton and an old settler of Lake Co. Had he lived till New Years Eve he would have been 72 years old. He leaves a wife, 7 grown children and a number of grand children to mourn his death.
