Caroline Ailes

DIED.
Mrs. Caroline Ailes died June 24, 1882, at Tassinong, Ind., aged 38 years and five days. She is gone. Her chair is vacant. Cherished hopes and expectations have been blasted. Home is desolate, and O, how changed! But "we sorrow not as those who have no hope." Extreme suffering was endured without a murmur because God sustained her. Thus for one week she suffered and gradually faded away. At length she knew she must die, but death had lost its terror. She was fully conscious until the last few moments. She gave comforting evidence of her strong faith in Christ, and when she was no longer able to attend to the duties of her family she still continued to comfort them with kind words and to encourage them by her cheerful and patient spirit. As a servant of Christ she was always true to her vows; as a friend, constant and kind; and the kindness of her heart made her the friend to everyone. Many will rise up and call her blessed.
