Killed In Action In Viet War

A 1969 graduate of Valparaiso High School, Pfc. Robert Dale McKinney, 20, has been reported killed in action in Vietnam.

Mr. and Mrs. Ivan McKinney, North Judson, formerly of Valparaiso, and Betty McKinney, South Haven, Mich. were notified of the death of their son June 1 while on a combat mission.

Pfc. McKinney, who was with the 501st Infantry, 101st Airbourne Division, entered the service in March 1970.

Surviving besides his parents are five sisters, Bonnie Sidenstricker, Judy Norman, Karen Thorpe, Brenda McKinney and Michelle McKinney; three brothers, Billy, Pat, and Tommy; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mamie Calahan.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Calvin's Funeral Home, South Haven, Mich.

PFC. MCKINNEY'S RITES

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Calvins Funeral Home for Pfc. Robert Dale McKinney, 20, killed June 1 in Vietnam while on a combat mission.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 p.m. today.

McKinney, who was graduated in 1969 from Valparaiso High School, Valparaiso, Ind., was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan McKinney, of North Judson, Ind. formerly of Valparaiso, and Betty McKinney, of South Haven.
