Zane Cemetery, Liberty TownshipIndex of Zane Cemetery burials . . . .
The Zane Cemetery no longer exists. The cemetery
was located on the northwest quarter of Section 26, north of County Road 775
North and just south of U.S. Route 6. The cemetery was situated on a hill on the
back of the R. L. Zane family farm. With the construction of U.S. Route 6 came
the removal of the cemetery headstones. According to information published by
the Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society, "Martin Phares found a small marker
which is now in the Porter Co. Museum." The marker information is found below.
It is unknown how many burials took place at the Zane Cemetery.
