Remark: The license plate is issued by Indiana and dated 21 [1921]. The vehicle is a Master Junior Truck. In 1921, the firm Smith & Smiths Company was organized with H. E. Smith as president, Byron Smith as vice president and treasurer, and Earl V. Smith as secretary. Byron Smith would later become president of the company. In February 1921, Smith & Smiths Company purchased the business McFetrich Lumber and Coal Company along West Indiana Avenue in Valparaiso. In 1949, the business was reorganized and named Smith Nuppnau Ready Mix, Inc., and later renamed Smith Ready Mix.
