Remark: This photograph was taken looking southeast from the roof of the Porter County Court House in Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana. At the far lower right the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Opera House is visible, which still exists today and operates as an opera house [2023]. The large building visible to the upper right is the Auditorium of Northern Indiana Normal School and Business College, now known as Valparaiso University. the Columbia School, a four story brick structure, is visible along the left edge of this photograph..
