Remark: The fire tower on Mount Tom was constructed by the Boy Scouts of Kouts, Porter County, Indiana, around 1915-1917. By 1923, the tower had fallen into serious disrepair according to George A. Brennan's description of it in his book The Wonders of the Dunes.
