Remark: An interurban car operated by the Goshen, South Bend & Chicago Railroad arrives in Chesterton from LaPorte and has its freight unloaded. This photograph was taken on Broadway Avenue near Wood Street. This train would have traveled from LaPorte to Goodrum Junction onto the Valparaiso & Northern Railway line north to Chesterton. Incorporated in August 1908, the Valparaiso & Northern Railway construction was financed by citizens of Valparaiso and outside investors; the railway was to become one of the feeder lines the the Chicago-New York Electric Air Line Railroad.
